Permanent makeup

Permanent makeup is cosmetic tattooing that resembles topical makeup by applying permanent inks and pigments to the dermis layer of your skin. At Pacific Beach Permanent Cosmetics in Westport, WA, a permanent makeup procedure is subtle and undetectable. The goal is to enhance your natural beauty.

Permanent makeup will give you consistently better-looking lips, eyebrows, and eyeliner, wake up every morning looking fresh, and save time. You will no longer need to apply makeup multiple times daily and worry about smudging, smearing, and rub-off.

At Pacific Beach Permanent Cosmetics, you can customize the look you want to achieve according to your preferences. Your look can be dramatic or subtle.

Keep in mind that each service includes a touch-up 4-8 weeks after the initial service. This session is meant to perfect the look of your permanent makeup.

** When you book your initial consultation, you will need to pay a $50 deposit, which will be applied toward the cost of your permanent makeup treatment.

Post-Care For Eyeliner
  1. Eyelids may be puffy and tender for a few days. Itching is also common. This IS normal.
  2. Make up remover pacts dipped in ice water can feel very soothing. Icing is effective for the first 24-hours.
  3. Avoid salt. Sleeping slightly elevated can help reduce any residual swelling and puffiness of the eyes.
  4. Swelling and or sticky or crusty residue sometimes occurs the following morning after your procedure. In the morning if eyes are stuck together, use a wet Q-tip or clean, warm, wet cloth and gently separate. Do not rub, peel or pick! Keep the area clean and use Aquaphor (provided) very sparingly if you feel the need to moisturize the area for 3 to 4 days. Too much ointment tends to run into the eyes and can blur your vision. Apply once in the am and once in pm. Do not let the eyeliner become dry in the first 72 hours. If sensitive to ointment, or you cannot keep it out of your eyes, do not use.
  5. Avoid sun, extremely hot weather, chlorine pools, hot tubs the first few days. Eyes heal very well. However, very rarely the possibility of a secondary infection like conjunctivitis can occur. You may rinse with sterile saline eyewash and seek medical attention for an antibiotic steroid eye drop.
  6. Eyes are sensitive to pet dander, gardening, dust and dirty hands
  7. Sunglasses add protection
  8. Do not wear makeup directly on procedure for the first 72 hours while healing

Important Pre-Care For Lips

As a necessary precaution, we require ALL of our Aquarelle Lip clients to take an anti-viral medication for a total of 5 days (the two days before procedure, one the day-of procedure, and for the two days post-procedure).

Examples of antiviral medications are Zovirax, Famvir, or Valtrex. There are no exceptions to this rule, which holds true every time you get a lip tattoo.

You will need to contact your physician to obtain your prescription-strength antiviral medication. You must inform them of your decision to have permanent cosmetics applied to your lips, and they will need to call your prescription in for you to pick up at your pharmacy.

If you have ever had a fever, blister, or cold sore, you must be prescribed Valtrex or antiviral medication!

Begin your Anti-Viral medication two days before the procedure • Do not work out 48 hours before the procedure • NO alcohol, caffeine, or stimulants 48 hours before the procedure (Yes, there is caffeine in decaf coffee and tea!) • Avoid sun and tanning one week before the procedure • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 48 hours before the procedure • Avoid Fish Oil, Primrose Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes (Shakeology, etc), “Hair, Skin, Nail” supplements for a minimum of 48 hours before procedure • Discontinue Retin-A, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) at least six weeks prior • Must wait a minimum six months after lip fillers and six weeks after touch-up. It is possible to have poor color retention in lips that have had injections within 6-12. weeks • Wait six months after lip implant and get written clearance from your surgeon.

Post-care For Lips
  • Lips may be swollen, tender, and very dry for a few days after your treatment. This is normal.
  • Apply lip balm, Carmex, or after-care ointment on lips several times daily for 7-10 days post-treatment.
  • Do not allow your lips to become dry. This may interfere with the healed color. During the day, apply liberally by tapping, not rubbing the ointment in. Remember to use a clean Q-tip or wash your hands before applying.
  • It is advised to sleep on an old pillowcase in case residual pigment comes off the skin. After the initial peeling of the outer layer, lips may continue to be chapped and flaky. This is normal. Continue keeping them moisturized, and do not pick at the skin.
  • Avoid tanning beds, sunburning, extreme heat, and chlorine pools/hot tubs, as this will cause possible infection and blistering in the healing area.
  • Be sure to protect your lips with sunblock to prevent fading.
  • Redness, swelling, tenderness, and dryness are normal. For your comfort, try to avoid hot, spicy, salty, and acidic foods.
  • Lips are unpredictable. Some clients yield a very strong, healed color, while others heal with a slight color. You may require 1-3 sessions to obtain desired color retention.
  • Cold sores are a common side effect and can occur on the third or fourth day. Therefore, it is required that you take the necessary preventative medication prescribed to minimize this possibility immediately, preferably two days before the procedure and for three to four days following the procedure.
  • Lips heal in 3 stages: Too dark, too light, and just right. This process may take up to a month.

For new procedures (excluding models): Schedule your touch-up visit for one month or more apart. Normally, you are allowed one touch-up visit within a year unless specified. Maintenance or corrective procedures do not include additional complimentary touch-ups unless specified.
